Diving boards and blogs

We all went to Acapulco a couple months ago. It was a great vacation. We have really missed the beach after leaving Nicaragua and moving to Mexico City. It was quick and cheap to go to the beach in Nicaragua. It is neither when you live in Mexico City.

Anyway, the condo where we stayed had two swimming pools. One was about 10 feet higher than the other, and they had a swimming-pool waterfall in between the two. Okay, so the kids thought it was fun to jump from the higher one into the lower one. And then they decided that Daddy had to do it to.

Now I just like to keep my feet on something solid. I do not like jumping–not off cliffs, not off high buildings, not off diving boards, and not off swimming-pool waterfalls. But, like any good Dad, I don’t want to let the kids down. So they convinced me to try it.

I went up to the pool on the second level and walked over to the edge to jump into the lower one. It was terrifying. It might as well have been 50 feet. Actually, it was probably about 10. I walked up to edge, then I walked back, then I tried again, then I chickened out again. Back and forth. Everybody was watching. Some folks were cheering. Ooooh, was the gringo going to jump or not? Then folks got bored and quit watching. They figured, nope, it will never happen. But I did it. I finally jumped in. And I lived to tell about it.

So, what does that story have to do with anything? It’s all about this blog. I’ve heard of these things. I’ve seen some other folks do it. People tell me it’s a great new way to get your message out, or whatever. So now you know–the kid will eventually jump in.

By the way, if we ever live in a place with a pool, which is highly unlikely–I’m definitely not getting a diving board that’s more than about 3 feet off the ground, or the water.

What’s this all about?

So you can know what's going on--in our lives, in our ministry. And so you can pray--for us, for our ministry. Please.
